Droid Trainer Android Application
Contextual Inquiry, Personas, Prototyping, Design, Evaluation
The Droid Trainer application was designed for the Google Android mobile platform and functions as a personal trainer and exercise log on your phone. This application is the culmination of a semester-long project for a graduate class in Interaction and Interface Design. Highlights are shown below. For a detailed analysis of the project, please visit the Droid Trainer website.

An Android Fitness Application
The following screens from the Droid Trainer application outline one available workflow: "Exercise Body Part". Here a user can select a body part she wishes to work out and find an exercise that suits her needs. She can then log her data with this exercise and view her progress in a graphical display. Read below or visit the Droid Trainer website to learn more about the user-centered design process used in this project.
Design Process
Affinity Diagram & Personas
The following affinity diagram was created after interpreting interviews with potential users of the system. This diagram helped to discover major themes and design ideas for the proposed solution. Read more about the affinity diagram on the "Contextual Inquiry Milestone" of the Droid Trainer website. Personas were then created from the findings of this diagram, highlighting the key user-needs in this domain. Additional personas can be found on the "Personas & Scenarios Milestone" of the Droid Trainer website.
Prototyping
Following the contextual inquiry and persona development, the team developed the initial paper prototype. User tests were completed with this prototype in order to determine where and in what ways the interaction was successful and unsuccessful for users. These findings helped to inform the next prototype iteration. See the full low-fidelity prototype on the "Lo-Fi Prototype Milestone" of the Droid Trainer website.
